My only wish is that people would stay on their side of the fricking line..

Driving between wayne and mt. pleasant is a potential death sentence.

What's the deal about speeding on Lincoln Dr? Good question.
All I can say is it's been that way for as long as I can remember
which is more years than many of you have been breathing
and I think it's like that because some of those drivers are
fantasizing that they are driving in a Formula One car race.

I've sped on there myself so I can't slam other drivers who do it.

... this thread is precisely why I will *never* ride my bike along Lincoln Dr. That seems tantamount to a suicide mission.

Thx, but no thx,

The Kelly Drive-Lincoln Drive Gan Prix....

Those roads do make you feel like a race car driver...Kelly even more so because of the rocks and the opposing traffic entering your lane at the curves.

I've always though a road race would be great through Philly...down the parkway and up through Fairmount park.

I'm not particularly fond of the part where Lincoln goes from two "lanes" to one, at what I think is McCallum. There's always the numnut trying to sneak in there at the last second.

Why would you? There's a bike path that parallels it just the other side of the Wissahickon. No need to risk life & limb.

Oh, I know- it's getting to that path- sans car- which provides for the challenge.

Road pizza, I am not,

Right, the weak point in that trail system is definitely coming off of the Kelly Drive path, having to negotiate that narrow sidewalk around to Ridge, and then crossing Ridge by the Wissahickon transfer station. Once you're safely on the other side, though, you're pretty much golden all the way up through the Wissahickon.

Looking forward to summer...

I had a great ride two weekends ago (when it was about 20F out): up the path along West River Dr. to Wissahickon Transfer Ctr., up Ridge to Henry Ave, over the Henry Ave. bridge, then down one of the off-road trails on the south side of Lincoln Dr. back to the transfer center. Then caught the 63 bus (needed to warm up) to 9th St, over the Ben Franklin and back, then through CC and back to West Philly. It was cold as hell, but I wore all the gear so only a small portion of my face was exposed. That was about all I could do in that weather, though.
