Single-stream recycling is now city-wide! So join in and put cans, glass, mixed paper, plastic containers and cardboard out at the curb in the same recycling bin. It’s more than putting your recyclables together. It’s a city working together.

Metal: Tin and aluminum cans, empty aerosol cans, empty paint cans
Glass: Jars and bottles
Mixed Paper: Newspaper, magazines, mail, phone books, food boxes and more.
Plastic Containers: #1 and #2 plastics (mostly beverage and detergent containers).
Cardboard: Empty and flattened.

Put all recyclables together in any hard-sided bin. If one recycling bin isn’t enough to hold everything, just add another container.

I actually just last weekend bought the letters R-E-C-Y-C-L-E and stuck them on my trash can as now my recycles are larger than my trash. This is AWESOME for Philly.

Now if we could just have them picked up every week instead of every other, that would be the cherry on top.

I put out my recycling yesterday, and because I put flattened cardboard on top of the bottles and cans, they didn't take it. The neighbors' was all taken--just not mine. I'm still skeptical...

My understanding is that it starts next week (wk of 7/7)...at least in my neighborhood.
