Phillyblog availability
Anybody else notice that phillyblog is unavailable almost every morning? Anybody know what's up with that?

Guesses:
1. Googlebot 2. Wil has some cron jobs on his server to do clean up which is sapping the resources of his system. He needs to use the "nice" feature on Linux to make sure they don't sap the system of resources. 3. The I/O throughput on the database is poor, and the database needs to be re-indexed. vBulletin usually runs with MySQL... so perhaps someone should take a look at partitioning Phillyblog's database across multiple disks, instead of having the entire database on a single disk. The "hot" tables should sit on a high speed 10,000RPM drive with low capacity and a good recoverable journaling file system, like XFS. Quote:

I've noticed it. It has just become one of those things - don't try logging in too early - the blog isn't awake yet. Maybe it need the cyber equivalent of coffee or something before it gets moving for the day.
