Default Zoological Drive - pay parking now

So what used to be free on-street parking behind the Zoo (Zoological Drive -- the curving street that goes between 34th st. and Girard), is now part of the Zoo's parking lot with a $12 fee.

Is this a public street? Owned by Fairmount Park? The Zoo? Amtrak?

If it was a public street, how does the zoo (or parking concession) get jurisdiction to charge for parking there and close it as an actual street/thoroughfare? City ordinance?

They ask. It's not hard.

As a quasi-public entity it gets a pass for stuff like this.

Lotsa "public" streets get "stricken" regularly.

Be glad they haven't totally cut it off with a wall.

God...I wish they'd get rid of the No Turn o Red sign at Girard. That thing kills traffic around there. (coming off 76)

and I wish they'd replace the ped bridge out to the river...but thanks to the ADA we'll never see that.
