Here is the Vince DeMentri arrest story.

This paragraph basically sums it up
According to police sources, DeMentri was stopped by a National Guardsman as he was trying to enter the sealed-off frozen zone with a camera operator. When the guardsman asked him for identification, police said, DeMentri said that he was an agent for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms. When questioned further, DeMentri allegedly said that he had lost his identification card in the explosion. Police sources said that a police sergeant overheard the conversation and arrested DeMentri, giving him a desk appearance ticket on charges of impersonating a federal officer.

He was let go from WCBS a few months later. It is still amazing that anyone hired him after that.

I don't qualify as a "little person" but I'm pretty short compared to most people
(even other women) so this stuff is very personal to me.

On the other hand I find very tall people(like basketball players) to be absolutely freakish... so there you go!

Apparently it's believable because the Gerbil "festish" is an actual thing that's been treated in a hospital. So the nurse/boyfriend got at least some satisfaction from this.
I remember that gerbil story. I was working 11-7 at Presby at the time when one of my co-workers got a call from a friend of hers from another hospital. " Guess who is in the ER right now with a gerbil stuck up his A##." She then goes on to tell what she knows. The phone lines were burning up with that story and before the end of the shift it was all over our hospital and a few others I'm sure.

Years later I met people who claimed to be there in the ER when Penacoli allegedly came in. The story has taken on a life of its own and is now the stuff of urban legend since other celebritie's names have been associated with it.

Someone once described to me how the poor gerbil is use and it is disgusting.

I can say I haven't heard anything about any of the anchors above going back to 1990
Only thing I can think of is Renee Chenault is now Renee Chenault-Fattah, wife of Congressman Fattah.

Yeah, it's amazing how many people were there when JP and the gerbil came in. Of course, it's a hoax. And like I said, it's always 4 or 5 times removed--"friend's brother's girlfriend's aunt" or some such.
As for height, some of us are short, some of us are tall. so what? We are just commenting that Larry Kane is short. I don't think that qualifies as a "controversy", it's just a "fact." Being a short person, I find it's inconvenient so much of the time, but I don't dwell on it. I've learned that everything in life has its advantages and disadvantages.

They really can't get along:

NBC questioned DeMentri, 44 and a five-year NBC10 employee, on July 3 about the removal of property from the newsroom and vandalism of a car in the station's parking lot in Bala Cynwyd, Leshinski said.

A station source who spoke on the condition of anonymity identified Delgado as the owner of the car, which was scratched by a key. The property, believed to be a handbag and blow dryer, was found elsewhere in the station. Delgado declined to comment yesterday in a phone call.

DeMentri, who works afternoons, and Delgado, who works mornings, anchored together from December 2005 to September 2006 on NBC10's MYPHL17 news show at 10 p.m.

DeMentri, known as an aggressive reporter, was suspended in 2006 after a newsroom confrontation with colleague Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz, who had chided DeMentri on the air for wading into floodwaters during a weather story.
