That sounds reasonable.

I'm also wondering why apartment complexes in Philly are not required to recycle.
There's a 300+ unit apt. complex near my work. Residents use the dumpsters and trash is picked up by private haulers. But why can't they be required to recycle? 300+ apartments is alloooottt of paper/plastic/glass.

I don't know about the rest of the city, but the recycling people don't take plastic on my street. Their reason: Too many people recycle plastic.

If you are in a single-stream recycling area, plastics are recyclable and must be picked up by recycling crews. If they don't, call the Streets Department District Supervisor at 215-685-4290.

What's a single-stream recycling area?

There's a Yogi Berra-ism in there somewhere.

I thought the whole city was on the single-stream recycling program, now.

You can put all the recyclables together in one container, without having to separate the different types of recyclables. The entire city will be single-stream by the end of the year.

Also, recycling collection is now either every week or every other week, depending in what part of the city you live. It will be weekly city-wide by the end of the year.

Hmm, I'll have to try it again. They come every week now but it used to be if I had any plastic in the bucket they wouldn't take anything. I'll put it all out tomorrow and see what happens.

The city started taking plastics only in March, when was the last time you tried?

It's been since before then. I'll give it another try tomorrow. I just stopped trying because I was getting tired of them not taking anything. Thanks for the update.

When it goes weekly I'll actually do it more than half-heartedly.
