Exclamation Philly Cops Fired!

Four Philadelphia police officers today were fired, with another demoted and three others facing suspension, for taking part in the videotaped beatings of three suspects.

The officers were among 19 policemen who were filmed May 5 kicking and pummeling three men on a tape by a Fox29 television news helicopter. Police allege the three men had been involved in an earlier drive-by shooting in Feltonville that resulted in several injuries.

What is this? The sixth thread today about this? Can't we merge this with the cop beating thread?

I'm sorry to see police officers lost their jobs but I do think it was the smartest course of action for Ramsey and Nutter to take. The speed in which the action was taken is also prudent.

Now the victims can focus on the important issue - what kind of rims they will put on their $100,000 car after they sue the city.

Personal opinion: they should not have fired the cops.

As for the rims on the car for the three knuckleheads (you call them victims?), that's after they get out of prison. Since it's philly and all they did was conspire to murder someone, that will be in about a year.

Just what we need, less cops willing to kick some ass on the street.

You know I don't get this. When I was growing up we expected the cops to kick our asses when we did wrong.

I agree, the criminal class in Philadelphia is too meek. Maybe now that they know the cops can't get too rough, they will come out of their shells.
Is this a victory of some sorts? I doubt we would have as much of a problem with police overstepping if we didn't have such a large population of unsocialized losers terrorizing our streets and turning our schools into zoos. I think we would be better served by honestly addressing that fact.
