I have a 25 minute walk to work. When it is raining hard, like it was last week, i always arrive at work with wet shoes that have usually soaked through to the socks. Sneakers let the water right in, and I don't like to wear good leather shoes in the rain. I know I should have a nice pair of rainboots, but I've never found a comfortable pair, have bad feet, and tend to get blisters even after a 15 minute walk.

To me, wet socks and shoes rank really high on the "annoying" scale (only slightly below wet jeans) Generally, I bring an extra pair of sock and then change both shoes and socks upon arrival. So, thanks to the OP, on the next rainy day, I think I will don the ol' flip-flops! Thanks for the great idea!

You *don't* want to walk 25 minutes in flip-flops. Your feet will hate you for it. Get yourself a pair of wellies for those rainy days and change to other shoes when you get in.

I haven't read this whole thread, but I am generally anti-flip-flop. However, there are times (e.g., after a pedicure) when they are necessary. But are there any reasonably priced flip-flops that are also comfortable? I hate a) paying $$$ for bits of rubber and b) having those bits of rubber cut into my toes. Rain or shine!

My daughter informed me that the annoying "side pony-tail girls" wear baggy sweatpants with platform flip-flops, camis and wear their hair in sloppy side pony tails. I guess that's the thing at Strath Haven Middle.

I can't stand to even look at flip-flops. They feel so creepy between my toes that my hair stands on end to see other people wear them.

It's like ketchup. I can't stand to look at it. I imagine that it would also feel creepy between my toes.

yall are wild. I had no idea so many people thought this way about flip-flops.

I can't wait to get a new pair and wear them till it snows.

Apparently, CBS3 is doing some sort of story on flip-flops tonight @ 11. Seriously. I heard it being advertised on KYW this morning.

In response to the OP - in some areas they wear flip flops in the rain because their fuzzy slippers would soak up too much of the rain.

There are a few elderly women who go out in the PJs and fuzzy slippers to get their lottery tickets and then go back home. And then there are the teens (and just-post-teens) who do the PJs and fuzzy slipper thing any given day or night. I imagine fuzzy slippers would hold a lot of rainwater and flip flops are preferable in those rainy situations.

I think, for the sake of science, you should try the ketchup between the toes thing and report back to us instead of just speculating.

Hi Arlee, these are actually from Matisse and Ive been eying them on Zappos in hopes of a special discount sale http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/39414937/c/385.html
I actually bought a similar pair from Daffy's for half the price but I love these!!
