And just how many have you seen today, versus rainboots? I will venture that not many women want to see nice shoes get wet, dirty and soggy in this weather, but rainboots should take care of that nicely. Alternately, flip flops, while not MY preferred footwear, will also prevent the ruination of good shoes!

Flip Flops are for the BEACH

The beach, huh? I guess someone needs to let Kenneth Cole and his colleagues in on that secret. Those wackos have been running around creating nice sandals for women to wear in public.

Flip flops in the city are fine, sandals with SOCKS drives me nuts!! That's the reason you wear sandals\flip flops... to expose your feet to the air and ligh... I really hate all the kids I see wearing the adidas or nike sandals with black socks... WHAT?? Why did this start? It's right up there with Uggs and skirts... NO! And big sunglasses... damn it I could go on all night!

I could ask you the same question. The image you quoted from Evelyn is an upscale pair of flip flops. I can't quite see who they are made by, but there are identical pairs made by Kenneth Cole, Prada, yada yada yada.
