Why flip flops are worn by ANYONE outside of a beach area confuses the hell outta me.

I get terrible blisters when I wear heels for meetings, so flip flops give my feet a little recovery time. I wear them all the time, too. Payless has nice ones this season.

...and I'll add to that, tiny shorts.

We arrived to the States on March last year, a few weeks later, some day when it was "officially" Spring, the streets, malls, etc we're packed with teen girls in flipflops and tiny shorts (oh!...and huuuuge lines at Rita's, free icescream I guess).....what was weird is that there were still patches of snow outside, no sun at all, cloudy day with showers and still frigging cold weather.

My wife and I were like, WTF?....whats wrong with this people?, we're used to it now, we still think they're nuts when we see people dressed for summer in the middle of march, but I guess is some cultural thing I won't get coming from southamerica.

Your thread reminded me this:

I'm more confused why Jedi and 3300 are confused? They are summer shoes that can be worn anywhere. No where does it state that they have to be on the beach.

We love our flip flops, 'nuf said.

It's easy, really. It's warmer, and sunnier, and more skin is exposed, and who in their right mind wants a "farmer's tan" on their feet and legs?
