Default CeaseFirePA Asks Pennsylvania Gun Stores to Stop Selling the SKS Assault Rifle

Quote:
Semi-Automatic Assault Rifle Weapon Used to Kill Police Officer "Has No Legitimate Place Or Purpose In Pennsylvania", Says CeaseFirePA Board President Phil Goldsmith
Wednesday, May 7th - CeaseFire PA today sent a letter to Pennsylvania gun shops asking proprietors to voluntarily stop selling the SKS assault rifle, the semi-automatic weapon used in the murder of Philadelphia Police Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski last Saturday.
SKS assault rifles possess enormous force and destructive power, and were originally designed for warfare. The SKS is available for purchase in Pennsylvania, with no purchase restrictions beyond those that would apply to any other firearm.
"The SKS assault rifle is a semi-automatic weapon with enormous, destructive power," said CeaseFire PA Board President Phil Goldsmith. "Officer Liczbinski’s murder makes it painfully clear a weapon this destructive has no legitimate place or purpose in Pennsylvania."
National gun-violence data demonstrates the SKS rifle is a growing problem across the country as well. During a five-year-period from 1995 to 2000, more than 11,500 SKS rifles were traced to crime scenes in the United States.
"The SKS rifle has been increasingly linked to gun crimes, and now it’s been used to murder a Pennsylvania police officer,” Goldsmith said. “We respect gun stores’ rights to do business, but everyone must do their part to help stem gun violence and stop the senseless loss of human lives. In memory of Officer Liczbinski, we are asking Pennsylvania gun stores to stop selling the SKS assault rifle. As long as the General Assembly continues to stall any reasonable attempts to pass common-sense handgun safety reforms, we must seek every possible avenue to protect the public and our police.”

FYI people.....the SKS that was used in the robbery & murder was purchased in NC back in 1992.....it has nothing to do with PA.

On that note there is a gun show the 24th of this month at the NG Armory in the northeast!

News flash: citizen asks parole board to keep dangerous animals in prison. Semi-Automatic dangerous animal who Killed Police Officer "Has No Legitimate Place Or Purpose In Pennsylvania", Says CeaseFirePA Board President Phil Goldsmith
Wednesday, May 7th - CeaseFire PA today sent a letter to Pennsylvania parole board asking they voluntarily stop releasing dangerous animals, the type who murdered of Philadelphia Police Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski last Saturday.
Dangerous animals possess enormous force and destructive power, and were originally designed for survival in the stone age. The parole board provide no meaningful supervision or restrictions on dangerous animals beyond those that would apply to any law abiding citizen.
Dangerous animals have enormous, destructive power," said CeaseFire PA Board President Phil Goldsmith. "Officer Liczbinski’s murder makes it painfully clear a dangerous animal this destructive has no legitimate place or purpose in Pennsylvania."
National gun-violence data demonstrates that dangerous animals are a growing problem across the country as well. During a five-year-period from 1995 to 2000, more than 27% of those released from incarceration went on to more serious and violent crimes and parolees were traced to crime scenes in the United States.
"Parolees have been increasingly linked to gun crimes, and now they've murdered a Pennsylvania police officer,” Goldsmith said. “We respect the parole board's rights to do business, but everyone must do their part to help stem gun violence and stop the senseless loss of human lives. In memory of Officer Liczbinski, we are asking Pennsylvania parole board to cease releasing dangerous animals. As long as the General Assembly continues to stall any reasonable attempts to pass common-sense corrections department reforms, we must seek every possible avenue to protect the public and our police.”

An SKS? The one I purchased a few months ago was less then 500$ but you can get them much cheaper.....mine was that much because of all the add ons (scope, synthetic stock, bi-pod etc...)

A co-worker of mine bought an AK-47 a few weeks ago....its a nice weapon but I like my SKS.

Amazing how stuff like this comes from hypocrites like Goldsmith who was part of the ongoing decay and decline that Philly still continues to suffer while he collected all those city paychecks over the years.
