Yeah, this won't be a Sean Bean case....but it won't stop anyone, specially the media, tying it in.

Of course that isn't a bad thing, after all when is open debates about things a bad thing?

It's the suppressing opinion and debates that is a bad thing.

Well...as long as it doesn't turn into a flame war(As Hospitalitygirl starts the coals....)

soooo . . . when a potentially armed (or even unarmed) man is on the ground and refuses to be cuffed, he can't possibly hurt anyone?

So are you saying it is okay for the police to break law if some else has broken it first ? Shouldn't they be held to a higher standard ?

It's purely a judgment call on your part to say they were breaking the law.

I agree with Mel, should have thought about getting a beating before you shot at someone. The cops were not breaking the law, they were subduing a suspect, in a shooting, not knowing if he was armed yet because you can see in the video, they did not have a chance to search him, as he was fighting with the cops the whole time. They couldn't get cuffs on any of the guys, so what did you want them to do, just say- oh well, we don't have to cuff him, even though he is fighting back and may or may not have a weapon. Oh yeah, ANOTHER one of our own just got killed by thugs like these, but that is ok, we won't kick them in order to get cuffs on them.... please!

Yup, last time I checked resisting arrest was a crime, and the police are allowed to protect and defend themselves...along with the rest of us.

Default Philadelphia Police at it again!

Man.... I have to say, the really beat the crap out of these guys. Excessive? I think so....

Philadelphia Police Beating

Although I know this happened on the heels of Officer Liczbinski's murder, there is absolutely NO excuse for this; I believe there are proper procedures in place when addressing a 'suspected" gun shooter.

He's my question: if they believed these guys were involved with a shooting, why didn't they approach the car more cautiously instead of direct and full of rage? I saw maybe one or 2 out of the 18+ approach the car w/ caution.

I mean, if I suspected these guys of shooting someone, I would NOT just run up on them like that. I would definitly proceed w/ caution.

BTW... the police recovered ZERO guns.

hmmmmm.. something sounds fishy. I hope the new police commissioner does a thorough investigation.

Man.. I thought Rodney King had it rough.

Welcome to Philly.

A day late and a dollar short, yet again.

There is lieu way given when force is needed to effect an arrest, but good job sticking up for people.
