Default ABC News just did a major hatchet job on Philly's reputation

ABC World news just did their nightly newscast on Philadelphia and boy was it bad. They talked about how in "trouble" the city was with regards to crime (more murders than NYC despite being 1/6 its size) and did shots of some of the worst sections of the city and talked about how the city is rapidly losing jobs and population. Some of it was about Nutter, but it was mostly about what a desperate situation the city is in with regards to crime and jobs.

Truth hurts.

Surprise, 80% of the city isn't Center City.

and 60% of that 80% is in decline.

Hope can cover reality for a while.

Nutter seemed to know that would be ABC's angle, since he made sure to mention the positives too. Oh well, what do you expect from network news - pretty superficial stuff. Did you see Gibson talking to Jim Gardner during the local news? He really didn't have anything to say.

Jim Gardner was way out of his league. He looked starstruck and could barely utter a complete sentence (not to mention the video screw up. What great timing!)

I saw it too. It was kind of embarassing. I guess they're obligated to do a bit with the local affiliate.

Americas Next Great City material it wasn't. Showing housing shells, hoodlums, and police is never good publicity. Charles Gibson proclaiming that NYC had less murders than Philly last year with 6x more population.Although officially NYC had about 70 more murders than Phil. last year.

Not a good 5 minutes for Philly imo. The city came off looking more like Camden then Chestnut Hill, more East St.Louis than East falls.

Katie Couric did a nice hatchet job on Philly last year with her Killadelphia series, the Gibson piece wasnt much better.
Nutter should have taken that dude to Soceity Hill not Strawberry Mansion.

Its stuff like that that really pisses me off about the newsmedia.

They ALWAYS show the lousy parts of the city, and MUCH of it is NOT lousy!

There are parts of the NE we've driven through, that if you didn't know you were in Philly, you'd never believe it!

Yeah there seems to be a NY bias that all of Philadlephia is one huge ghetto, at least thats how they try to spin it.As if the Bronx,Queens,North jersey was ghetto free. If I never see another NY news media member set foot in Philaldephia again that will be fine with me.

Where was the skyline shot of the 3 Billion dollars worth of new investment in Center City/University City? How about a glamour shot of 5th + Pine,43rd + Cedar or Kelly Drive?

Keep these NY idiots out of Philadephia.
