Where was the skyline shot of the 3 Billion dollars worth of new investment in Center City/University City? How about a glamour shot of 5th + Pine,43rd + Cedar or Kelly Drive?
You know, I'm FROM Philly and for some reason I usually don't have the negativity most other natives have. Maybe I'm blind or looking at the city through rose-colored glasses, I don't know...but when I ride throughout the city, I see a lot that is really GOOD.

We drove through Germantown and Mt Airy not long ago, and there are a lot of really interesting historical buildings and sites there. Did you know that Louisa May Alcott, the authoress of Little Women, was born in Germantown?

We went back to the NE and saw the Ryerss Museum, Fox Chase Farm (the last real working farm in the city), the mansions up in the Far NE...there are some really beautiful places in the city for those who are willing to open their eyes!

Keep these NY idiots out of Philadephia.
So then, why did our new mayor agree to do this interview without stipulating that the glamour stuff be included as well? That was a big no-no in my book. The piece should have been more balanced.

All in one post...seems a little contradictory.

...and if you followed things by Zur's book you would think 80% of the city was in the Northeast.

What I meant when I said "you'd never know you were in Philly", is that many parts of the city (esp. the Far NE) look very suburban or even rural. You'd never know you were in a city proper.

We had taken my father-in-law on a long drive through parts of the Far NE and he kept saying, "Are we really still in the CITY??"

The NE is the largest section of the city. And the one that foots much of the tax bill for a lot of the rest of the city at that.

It can be looked at in a different more positive way. The story highlighted a mayor who is getting people excited. Excited citizens and a proactive mayor indicate that change could be coming.

It looked like west philly they were showing and anyone could drive through there. It's no secret, but a story like this might make people think.

And another thing of note was they made the city seem a bit darker then it actually is. They only showed black faces. The most obvious editing choice was when they showed the Nutter meet and greet line and showed a huge chunk of black people and soon as they got to a white person they cut away.

It was such a hatchet job. I mean **** talking about Nutter being a Wharton grad, lets talk about his days as a DJ.

I doubt Nutter had much say in how they edited the piece. Basically his part was probably just the interview.

Remember on Nutters inauguration day he stood right next to Rendell and claimed that Philadlephias renaissance starts today. Well Rendell looked irked to say the least. The mischievious part of me believes Nutter intentionally took Gibson to the shells of Mantua to show him wow look at what these clowns left me, and watch what I do with this city.

There was an awful lot of progress made the past 15 years with Rendell and One Way Street but you would have never known it from tonights clip.
