Except for an account I have at the bank in my office building to deposit checks and for quick cash needs, I've been doing almost all my banking with ETrade. Their rates are great and pretty much everything, such as online bill pay, is free. You can transfer money painlessly between not only different ETrade accounts, but also between accounts at other institutions (for example, as soon as any check I deposit in my local bank clears, I go online and transfer the money right into my ETrade account). Finally, they refund all ATM fees (since they don't have any branches), so if you're a penny pincher, you don't have to search out the closest Wawa or branch of your bank to get money free; any ATM will do.
