In essence it summarizes what many have been saying. It's clearly not complete; therefore, if you want to help me complete it that would be great.
Society Hill is part of the Center City East neighborhood, which also includes most of 19102 and 19107.

Rittenhouse is part of the Center City West neighborhood, which also includes small portions of 19102 and 19107.

Garden Court is part of the University City neighborhood, which also includes 19104. The Penn-Alexander catchement encompasses most (but not all) of University City south of Market St. There's a map of the catchement area about 3/4 of the way down this page.

There's a map of Philadelphia zip codes here.

The eastern parts of Bella Vista are in the Meredith catchment. I think below (east of) 8th street?

Be careful about Garden Court; I know the townhomes which were built as a part of Garden Court, I believe on streets like Osage and Larchwood are in the catchment, but the condominium buildings are not, partly because there were too many children in those buildings to be accomodated by the school.

As Shosh has said, pay close attention and make sure you get an accurate map of the school's catchment (call the school's office and ask for one, if necessary), since if you're outside of it you may not get your kid in. Meredith is a very good school indeed, but they don't admit large numbers of kids from outside the catchment.

Sadie Alexander ditto - over in University City. But you also might want to look at East Falls, in the Henry school catchment. Friedman, who occasionally appears here on the blog, is an involved Henry school parent I believe.

East Falls or Mount Airy would probably be most like what you're looking for in character, though they're farther from Center City. University City has that green & leafy character, with restaurants, coffee shops - proximity to the universities gives it a slightly Bohemian quality which is kind of nice. The houses are Victorian, though, not 20's vintage. But some of them are gorgeous. Queen Village is a much more densely packed rowhouse neighborhood, though it has a few nice pocket parks.

You can find photo "tours" of some of these neighborhoods on phillyskyline.com.

What is the total income/wage tax impact of living in Philly and working in Cherry Hill, NJ?
