Default Alycia Lane Compliments Rendell's Media Influence

Lost in all the media coverage of Alycia Lane's adventures in New York City and her future was the fact that she was the first to publicly recognize a major source of Governor Rendell's power: his media influence.

She is certainly correct in that Rendell's strong credibility with many media outlets enables him to strongly influence the direction of media coverage. Influencing coverage of celebrities would be "brand extension" in marketing terminology, but there is no question that he strongly influences coverage of state government and, to a lesser degree, city government.

If Alycia Lane ultimately follows the well-traveled path from television journalism to public relations, she certainly has demonstrated that she has a good understanding of the public relations field.

And a bad understanding as to how to behave in public.

I also think there's a lot more to it. It's not Rendell's media influence. It's the media's own influence that happens to agree with Rendell so they pimp him. Don't confuse the two.

Or maybe she was able to use him because she knew he'd make a bunch of calls to defend his reputation once the media found out that the infamous bikini picture sending, married man chasing Alycia Lane had called him when she got in trouble.

Kinda feels good to think that a politician might've actually got used by one of his constituents, for once, instead of the other way around. Even if it did nothing for the general public.
