Default French Toast Anyone? Two Winter Storms Coming!

Make those bread, egg & milk runs now!

So they're calling for an icy commute tomorrow morning (like an inch or two of frozen stuff) before it changes to a cold rain in the afternoon. I have a production meeting tomorrow and have to be at work on time The mother-who-lives-in-the-basement has her weekly bridge game at the senior center, so I'd appreciate it if all the neighbors would make sure their sidewalks are nicely salted.

Sunday looks like it could be our first major snowfall. I'm hearing anywhere from a couple of inches before changing to rain (if the storm tracks further offshore) to 6+ inches if it's further inland (that's what KYW radio said this morning, I swear) !!!

Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll happen later Sunday and we can all take a snow day Monday

I have our Christmas luncheon in North Jersey tommorow.

I'm not driving up there if it's going to be bad. It will take me forever to get home with all the idiots on the road who don't know how to drive in crappy weather.

The secret to good french toast is that you make the custard the night before.

Interesting. Mix it all together and leave it in the fridge?

Do you prefer the bread to have a quick dip in the custard or should it soak?

If you want to brave the hills of Roxborough in a snow storm on your bike, I'll gladly make you breakfast. I do get up at 6 AM on Sundays though, and you have to promise to save a piece of bacon for the two dogs

For french toast and bacon? I'll go up that snowy hill both ways!

Little do you know, the bus that goes to manayunk/roxborough stops a block from my house.

Plus cut the bread the night before and let it sit out to stale up a bit.

about 5 seconds should work.
You don't want fresh bread. A nice older bread will be dry and suck in the custard real fast.

I like my French toast crispy on the outside and moist and warm on the inside.
