Malloy is about on the money there.

That's about all the business around 63 & Passyunk offers. I've passed through during the day time and had about the same summary of the place.

Passyunk and Essington Avenue is an often ignored shortcut to get around traffic that is headed to the Platt bridge. You can avoid the congestion on 76/South by taking Passyunk and driving through Sunoco and through the Auto Mall.

It's quite possible he was simply doing that. Around that time of night, 76 is still jam-packed with slow moving traffic. He was probably driving through no man's land just to shave a few minutes off his commute.

But then again, why would he have stopped at 63rd? If there's some freak standing out in the middle of the road trying to stop people... especially at that location, I would probably "nudge" them with my car and keep on driving.

That is NOT a place you want to get out of your car at night. There's no police there and zero pedestrians.

And this is why you should donate to PACCA, not PETA:

In September, PETA made headlines in Vermont and across the nation for asking
Ben & Jerry's ice cream to use human breast milk in their ice cream, instead of cow milk

EC and Malloy are probably right. He was probably going to score an eight-ball for those long nights in the office!

He could have been told to meet someone there. I've known lawyers to go to McDonald's to meet client. Since he was involved in the case regarding the stripper he might have thought it was related to that case.

Maybe wanted to rent a video. It doesn't matter why he was there or where he was unless one thinks that there are certain areas of Philadelphia where law applies occasionally and only to certain people.

Of course a person should be careful, but this man had a reasonable expectation that he would not be the victim of a crime. If anyone can't have this expectation in Philadelphia the city government has a responsibility to tell the citizens where one can reasonably expect crime.

If my guess is right, he'll consider it a lesson learned the hard way and claim to have a loss of memory about the details of the entire affair.
So your view is that if you like porn (assuming that was why he was there), you deserve to have your brains splattered on the sidewalk?

Well, Tannhauser is one step away from being Jesus, so I guess yeah--you should look the other way if the dude was beaten up at an unsavory address.

Nobody deserves a brick in their skull. But given where it occurred, and that it's habitual (2nd known incident there), I'd say there is a resident or a vagrant around there who is a bit touched and is lurking near the porn store.

I'm not quite sure why the driver was beaten up near a porn store, and why he would choose to go there when The Forum is closer to where he parks his car. If he was really going to rent a video, don't you think he would do that in Center City before he drives home, where it's somewhat safer to do so?

Maybe that's why the article pointed out that he parks his car near the Murano... he had to walk a 1/2 block away from adult video places as it is just to get to his car.

Maybe the reporter will follow up and get more details from the victim about what happened. I don't want to use Passyunk anymore as a cut-through to get to the airport when the train is down, THAT's for sure.

Did it take place in the conservatory? Was Colonel Mustard involved?

It was Cook! Cook did it to cover for Evette.

Yes, and the Forum is also closer to where he works. And while I might not be ashamed to have my friends and coworkers see me walk out of the video store with a copy of Buttman's British Extremely Big T*t Adventure, or you with Jeff Stryker Does Hard Time, I suspect many people aren't. So they go someplace out of the way. And Venus Video is out of the way. There's also the issue of a lot of hetro guys being squicked out by the gay guys working the crowd at the Forum and avoiding it for that reason. Of course, I understand the booths at Venus have a rep in the cruising world, and get quite a workout as well.

Though I have no idea what really happened in this case, I suspect places like this are a good place for muggings and strong-arm robberies. A married guy who is frequenting strip clubs, video booths, or looking to hook up is probably less likely to report a robbery if it means wifey might find out where he was at the time. Of course, when you get smacked up alongside the head with a brick, all bets are off.

Jeff Stryker? That's all you could come up with?

Go to Xtube and search for "Hussein". The in-thing now is naughty Muslims.
