I did read the article--I find it hard to believe that they didn't actually take anything yet someone found this poor guy unconcious and needing neurosurgery.

I was wondering if anyone knew anything other than the details of the article, I see they recovered his cell phone and wallet but it just seems out of control that someone would be beaten that badly by a brick for nothing at all.

<disclaimer>I really hope he's ok and I'm really sorry that it happened. It shouldn't happen anywhere to anyone.</disclaimer>

How about a saw? I was attacked by two people with a saw. A brick, a saw, a rock, a hammer, a wrench, a pipe, a frozen leg of lamb, a fist, etc. A weapon can be many things.

My attackers also used a can of beer.

That could also be said of Manayunk. Although Main St. started to come back in the early 90's one could still go to a brothel there up until a couple of years ago. Drugs and prostitution in Philly are common and tolerated to some extent.
