Jeez, you're really curmudgeonly about this topic. Even the OP showed more humor about it. Lighten up. Seriously. It isn't a life or death topic. No one really gets hurt, even if they have been startled out of an early morning stupor on their way to coffee, and they don't do this into the wee small hours of the morning.

It really is all in good, clean fun.

DH and I have been on the Ducks. Had a good time and yes we quacked passers by. Most waved back. It is not as if the area in question is pristine and quiet. Get real, it is Downtown Philly. We could barely hear the tour guide above the traffic noise, that is why they have to use microphones. I would rather hear the Ducks than all of the people blasting hip hop out of open car windows but guess what I live in the city, it is what it is. If I want quiet I could have moved to the burbs and the last place I would live in Downtown Philly. You live in a Downtown area because of all that is happening there. Like naked women walking down Walnut Street carrying a beverage. Ya gotta love the place.

Lyndon Johnson in 1960 explained the appeal of racial demagogy: "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

I just looked at their website, and taking a duck ride isn't cheap....$25.00! If tourists are willing to put out that kind of money to see the sights of the city, then I say let them stay.

We are on topic. We are not sweating this. In fact the whole issue quacks us up. If you have a beef fine, knock your self out. Shut the Duck up all you want. I say let em ride.

You have to let the tourists have their fun. Looks like fun to me. A little corny maybe.

I remember refusing to ride the Conch Train Tour in Key West because it really made you feel and look like an idiot. Kinda funny thinking back on it.

It's also funny how they seem to take turns logging on to PB. They're never logged on at the same time. Coincidence?

Hmm...Walt...looks like we are on topic, most of us think it's fine, corny, but fine. And if you really think they're noisy, you should try sitting in my living room some Sunday afternoons. A few quacksters would be welcomed relief from the motorcycle that inevitably set off the car alarms in a two block radius.
