Being annoyed is normal.
Thinking the duck tours are trying to annoy you is not normal.
The duck tours actually do intentionally try to annoy you. They may not pick Walt or me out from the rest of the crowd, but they are trying to annoy everyone on the street with their quackers. I've seen them consistently encouraged by the tour guide to quack at people. It's not mystery that being quacked at by forty tourists is something which many people don't feel like and don't feel like dealing with on any given day.

Considering that you and Walt are the same person ... that makes one person who takes the quacking as a personal affront.

Yes, the tour guides encourage riders to quack at people. But are they encouraging that action in order to ANNOY the people (which is what you're stating) or in order to GENERATE FUN AND ENTHUSIASM among the riders?

While the action may have the effect of annoying listeners, I suspect the drivers are encouraging the quacking for the benefit of their paying customers, not for the express purpose of annoying listeners.

How many cities actually have a duck tour? Does it not say something for the status of the city that it can actually support a duck tour. Does Detroit or even LA have one?

Geez, the guy doesn't like the duck tours (which indeed can be unecessarily obnoxious at times), but there's no need to all gang up on him and get personal!

That's funny. The way I look at it, I think they are quacking at me (& others) because they're trying to get us to lighten up & have a laugh with them. Which I usually do. But then again, I'm one of those glass is half full people.

Now that was a lot better than "ShutTheDuckUp" It was both funny and well articulated. A bit on the 'wordy' side, but well worth the read. It puts a much nicer spin on the topic and may have me reconsidering my position on The Ducks. Did I mention it was wordy?

Maybe they can be reformed. Perhaps some sort of Duck Reform Bill should be presented to city council and we can vote on it in the next election. The Duck Bill.
