My wife & I went for breakfast yesterday (Saturday). Their breakfast menu is fairly typical (eggs, waffles, toast, omelettes). They make their own sausage of two kinds: Serbian and Balkan. The balkan was *excellent*.
The room is nice, dark tables on wood floor. Supposedly they are opening for dinner in a few weeks. One annoyance we had was with the "Balkan Potatoes" which are basically homefries. When ordering we asked what they were and the server said "just fried potatoes", but they came with bacon throughout which one of us couldn't eat (vegetarian). The server said that the potatoes were "near" the bacon, which wasn't true because the bacon was everywhere in the potatoes. After complaining again the owner came over, apologised and said their menu should reflect the bacon, and took the dish off the bill. -=$>Dave<$=- |

Still giddy from trips to Ants Pants, I am anxious to visit the Balkantoo. One complaint though...the steel grid screens on the windows have got to go. It makes the place as inviting as a hardware store...oops, I forgot, its owned by the hardware store owner...

I totally agree about the screens David. When the hairbut place (Samson & Delilah's) on the corner of Bainbridge opened they had the grates for a couple weeks and you could never tell they were opened but more importantly, it just looked univiting. They removed them and it looks great and its hard to get an appointment on short notice!
