Default Tell me about your screen name and avatar

I often wonder how some of the posters here on Phillyblog come up with their screen names and avatars. Some I've learned about from their posts or from meeting them in person; e.g., Hospitality Girl works in the hospitality industry and admires and/or resembles a young Gina Lolabrigida.

Then there are some whose screen names seem kind of obvious but not the avatars; e.g., I assume seand is Sean D., but have always wondered who the guy is in the avatar.

I chose "Oladybug" because not only am I a former Beetle-driving "ol' lady" who often bugs and is bugged by others, but I also happen to love ladybugs.

What's funny is that some of the folks that I disagree with the most here have, I think, some very cool screen names; e.g., Scorpio Rose. My all-time favorite name was someone who used to really gall me -- Chief Salsa, and I used to wonder if the name was related to the dance or the dip.

So if you chose a screen name that is not some variation of your real name or isn't something obvious like "Philly Native," I'd love to hear about what your screen name means to you and/or why you chose it.

Well, nice to know you like my screen-name ; it is originally from a comic book character (see my avatar)...but also stems from the fact that I'm a Scorpio, and my great-grandmother's name was Rose (Ruchel, actually, but everyone called her "Rose".)

Oakland Raider fan.

Avatar is Fuzzy from Get Fuzzy. This particular picture I cropped was from a strip where a bunch of ferrets that were angry with his mean spiritedness whacked a racquet ball at his head.

I viewed it as symbolic of a group of people getting fed up with angry politicos (Fuzzy's character) and while the politico couldn't comprehend that the "lowly masses" were actually going to retaliate (and further insulting them when he mentioned his disbelief), they did and "bonked" him on the head.

Yeah, sometimes I look too deep into things.

Ive always been Cerberus...the three headed hound that guarded the gates to Hades...

My avatar is of course a rendition of Cerberus.

Ive always been considered a guardian or protector of some sort....all of my friends and family know they can count on me when the brown stuff gets knee deep.

dr_gingivitis has been my email address since college. I had a stoner roommate I played in a band with. I once told him that I hadn't been to the dentist in years. He was giving everyone in the band cheesy names, so I became dr_gingivitis.

My avatar is George W. with a "Freeway Style Muslim Beard", in front of Ruby's Water Ice at 18th and Catharine. Somehow my avatar did not come from the mind of a pothead, but was actually the result of some strange conversation on this message board.

I have a long nose and floppy ears so at birth my Mother named me dogface, Dad agreed.

I added "boy" so people would think that I'm young.

My avatar is the most reverend "Father Guido Sarducci" who is my spiritual guide and guru.

Nope, it's not my best photoshopping.
Actually, I think it might be time to change it up.
