Default End of the line

If you have a burial lot overlooking the Schuylkill in Laurel Hill Cemetery, it is indeed your Last Stop.

The reason for the name-- I love pasta.
The reason for the avatar-- The picture looks like me, hair and all. Kind of uninhibited with an attitude. I also love over-sized sunglasses.

Lyndon Johnson in 1960 explained the appeal of racial demagogy: "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

Well, I'm from Boston, hence the avatar. I keep meaning to change it, but I have no interests or hobbies so I don't know what I'd change it to.

And my name is Jessica. I always mishear "just" as "Jess", and when I was trying to think of a screen name once that was moderately more interesting than my first name/last name or initials, but still was something that had my name in it, I came up with this. (I only use it on one other site, but that site doesn't take apostrophes in its SNs, so my SN there is grammatically incorrect which really bugs me.)

I also have low self esteem so It's Just (Jess) Me seemed to fit.

The moniker: it's my favorite Xmas song parody:
No El, no El, no El, no El
I took the bus 'cause there was no El

Why did I pick that name? Eh, I saw other people around here posting with El-related names, and the thought of posting as "No El" amused me.

The avatar is much easier to explain: it's Edna Mode (or "E") from the movie The Incredibles. There are aspects of her work habits that I very much relate to: my routine work doesn't much inspire me, but there are a lot of side projects that my employer likes me to do (but doesn't require me to do) that inspire me very much. I sometimes make the mistake of prioritizing those "fun" side projects over my day-to-day work. So I completely relate to her line, "It's impossible! I'm far too busy! So ask me now, before I again become sane..." I also related to the way "E" temporarily tossed aside everything else and completely went overboard with her side project.

HogIsland because it's a homage to Philadelphia's past as a manufacturing powerhouse (Hog Island Shipyard, where the airport now exists) and legendary birthplace of the Hoagie (Hoggie, as an employee of the shipyard was known).

Grip, because it's what I do for a living - motion picture grip.

The avatar is my driver's license photo.

Handle: Obviously, it's where I live and it's the side of Chestnut Street that has more entertainment value than the West side of Chestnut, and I have seen a LOT of crazy things on this strip of asphalt.

Shosh -- I've been using my Hebrew name, Shoshana, since 5th grade. Most people shorten it to "Shosh" (long o).

Right now, my avatar is of my dog, Winston. I'm getting sick of it; it'll be different within a few days I suspect.

ON EDIT: My avatar is now a photo of Mt. Everest that I took last summer.
