You should have posted a link to Philly.com in your post because some phillyblog members are lazy that way.
Philly.com has so much information and content and that is very challenging when creating the website. I think the new layout is ok, but then I didn't have any trouble with the old one either. I don't especially like fixed-width, but I can live with it. The discussion boards kind of suck, but that's not to do with layout. The letters to the editor are sort of skewed. I think they should have titles or taglines, and the name, location, email, etc. should be after the letter instead of before. The site should at least try to comply with Section 508, level 1. Again, nothing to do with layout. More creative interactivity would really make it rock. Other than that, it would take days to look over and review everything on that site. |

after a quick perusal of it, i like the format better...it's visually more appealing. However, i don;t really understand the tabs along the top: first, you have the inquirer, then thye daily news, and then after different subject heading....are these from both papers, from phill.com? and then, if i'm correct beneath these subject headings are further headings...agauin from where exactly, inquirer, daily news, both???

It looks kinda cluttered.

I'll have to get a little more familiar before I can judge the new layout and navigation.
The biggest improvement was made earlier this year. They went from using tables for page layout to entirely CSS and it made an order of magnitude improvement in page load time. Pages that used to take as much as 10 to 20 seconds to render, usually load in 1 or 2 seconds since that earlier revamp.

I think it's less cluttered, and much more aligned. Previously, things were all over the place, IMHO.
