Default State Cops to Patrol Philly Streets

This just in!!!

http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/news...a_streets.html

So apparently we do need more cops, Mr. Mayor.

At least someone is hearing our cries...

Hopefully the increase presence will help catch some of these thugs instead of simply pushing them into other areas to have their Wild West shoot outs.

My only fear is that it will be a token State Police presence, just a handful of cops and not a large increase in patrolmen. The truth is we need a lot more cops, and hopefully the next mayor will see that and do what is necessary.

We're not alone:

It's about freakin time!! Now they need to do lockdowns on a regular basis in all of the crime ridden areas of the city.

It's never been the arresting part we lack..

It's the prosecuting and locking them up part we can't pull off.

I hope "aggressively targeting illegal firearms" means STOP AND FRISK.

If they start enforcing traffic laws too they are going to find an awful lot of illegal firearms as well...and if the carrier has a record they can get turned right over to the feds.

"They" have been talking about bringing state police into Philly for a few months. I thought that the original plan (and the sensible one) was to have the state troopers takeover the duties of the Phila Police Highway Patrol on roads like 95 and 76, and move those officers into the city streets.

That's already been done.
