Whatever happened to the concept of improving neighborhoods and creating a greater sense of community, helping improve resident's welfare and quality of life? Having more cops on the beat is just going to piss more criminals off and create more animosity..

Is anyone actually interested in HELPING these people and their surroundings or are we all set on just locking everyone up?

I thought the purpose of 10,000 black men was to reach out the the community. But people on here seem so intimated of this idea, which baffles me. Not once has anyone had sometime postive to say instead you see negativity throughout. Maybe they want these certain group of individuals to not succeed;maybe just to say I told you so.

Sure, people are interested in helping these people (who exactly are "these people" you refer to anyway?). Nobody should have to live in a neighborhood infested with sociopaths and thugs. While you may not fully understand this, lock up enough of the sociopaths and thugs and things get better for everyone.

As for the social programs, etc., they don't work in a vacuum. Look around you.

It's too late for all of that nonsense!! Gun toting thugs as well as minors with guns don't understand and have no sense of community and many Philly residents are being indirectly held hostage by these individuals who chose their own lifestyle and most likely will never be an asset to any community except for the one behind bars.

I think the idea of 10,000 men (all races.....) working with their respective communities perhaps with other families and their children, elderly etc. might be a good idea, but to put any man in danger patrolling the streets and supposedly keeping them safe outside of a townwatch scenario is asinine -- That is a job for professionals.

Lock em all up: White, Black and every shade in between!!

Help what people? The muggers and gun toting thugs? No, I have no interest in helping them do anything but get behind bars.
