Default Anyone watching Cold Case on CBS? They are in Philly

Here is the show description:

Sunday, October 24, 8PM ET/PT

"The House"

In l968, Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Concert was broadcast to millions of inmates across the U.S. That night, in the melee following the broadcast, an inmate was murdered and quickly disposed of in a prison outside of Philly. Lilly and the team re-open the case when human bones are found at the site of the now shuttered prison. Rating: TV14-LSV

Great shots of the city and the old penitentiary with references to Germantown, Fairmount Ave. and Bucks County so far.

Cold Case is always in Philly......

Though they only do a handful of actual shooting of the characters in the city.

They usually come in a few times a year to do some shooting.

Saturday or Sunday (they were showing a rerun Sat), they showed a construction site that looked suspiciously like the old Schmidts site in Northern Liberties.

I always like their offices and the view out - obviously not in Philadelphia. You'd think they could use a few interiors of the sitelines from the office windows showing something other than high rises that don't exist here.

For what it's worth, I suspect the difference between "stoop" (which is normally taken to be a New Yorkism) and "step" (which is supposedly the real Philly thing to say) probably goes back to the Europeans who settled those respective cities early on. New York started out as New Amsterdam, a Dutch settlement, and "stoop" is (I believe) the Dutch version of "step."

Philly, of course, after a brief dalliance with the Swedes, was an English settlement, hence the English "step" being the preferred term here.

However, by this point I think it's a losing battle. Sorry, native Philadelphians. Too many of us are hooked on the concept of "stoop sitting." We got our daughter saying it, so she'll probably grow up thinking it's right, and I'd say she would have a right to be considered a native Philadelphian, since she was born here.

I know. So how many generations in do you have to go before the kids are considered "natives"?
