I like the Hong Kong scaffolding - bamboo... tied together. It flexes and thus stands up in typhoons whereas the pipe ones bend and then fall over...

Its amazing the heights to which bamboo scaffolding can rise!

Well, it was only a matter of time...Union workers were picketing the site of the new condos on Frankford Avenue being built. About 6 African-American men had signs out there at about 7:45am this morning.

You're kidding? They are not using union workers? That won't go over big in the neighborhood.

I'm not aware OF a private development using union workers.

Default Home Automation?

Hello,

Been following phillyblog for a couple weeks now, this is my first post... We visited the website for these units and wanted to see if anyone has any opinions on home automation systems such as the ones they are offering. It's not something my wife and I were looking for, but after reading a little more about it we're liking the idea... (and yes, we're geeks ) Any thoughts? Thanks

So, the units are ~$340 a foot. Parking is ~$20k for a garage spot. Cool project, just too pricey IMO.

This stuff changes sooo rapidly - it will be out of "date" in 5 years.

IMHO - get the house prepped for the wiring, but no the "devices" - add those on as you see fit (save some $).

To allow compatibility - see if they will install "conduit" for all the wiring isntead of hard wiring inside the walls - Carlon is one brand that Ive seen. In particular
