The van is critical to his job so without it he could loose his employment. Is there any safe place in the neighborhood to park his van without people complaining? The area we're looking to park it in would be from Frankford Ave to the west, the river on the east, Lehigh Ave to the north, and Girard to the south.

Thank you so much for your help!
What are the regs for your neighborhood? Is it illegal to park the truck in front of your house? If not then just park there and tell the neighbor to F himself.

Mel still has lawn chairs and an orange cone in front of his house saving the parking spot he shoveled last winter when we had 2 inches of snow.

South Philly?

Well, there's diplomatic ways to do that...but yeah, I'd feel the same way. Be a good neighbor otherwise...sweep the front of the complainer's house or pick up the strewn trash a few times and I think your problem will be solved. Over here on non-Riverside, screaming kids drown out the noise of a reverse beep!

With the "beeping" complaint, frankly your neighbor just needs to suck it up as is being entirely unreasonable. How often are you backing up your truck in front of the house? Being a good neighbor is not just your problem, but their problem as well, and all neighbors need to engage in a little give and take.

They have to put up with maybe 30 seconds of beeping a couple times a day. Build them a bridge and tell them to get over it.

Mel,

Get over yourself. Most people in the suburbs started out in the city. We were tough/smart enough to move out of the slums of Philly while you are still grilling cheesesteaks.

HAHAHAH,

This reminds me of an incident a couple years ago when my old roommate from Unionville was getting crap from some of the "tough" locals. They learned the hardway that his two years in Iraq as special forces made him much tougher than their "mean" streets of Philadelphia training.

Sorry Philly, but after watching a few street fights between the kids lately, the city kids are no longer "tougher." When we grew up, our dads taught us how to fight. These kids have no dads, and I don't know where they learned to fight, but whatever the crap I witnessed between two teeneagers the other day was, it was not a "fight".

Anyway, I always tell the locals to F-off when they tell me I can't park. I tell them my car is worth 4 grand, and their house is worth how much? I then tell them the next move is theirs, and nothing happens to my car.

Lately I have been parking my car and putting the cones and folding chairs on top of it. That gets a great reaction!!!
