Actually, I have never seen those dogs out, but it was more in the center of the block. They are two pit bulls(and I have pit mixes myself so it is nothing against the breed as long as you can handle them).
That Rottweiler makes me nervous, I beleive he has jumped the fence already. I live on Berks and came outside one night on the tail end(excuse the pun) of a dogfight on my street in which that dog was involved. That is a good sign that he wanted a little walk, the treat at the end always makes everything a little better! |

Sorry to hear that your dog got attacked. That would really burn me, too. Poor Walden!
My dog is a very friendly, playful guy. He's younger and a little larger but was attacked a couple of times in dog parks by large nasty dogs that had no business being in a dog park; thankfully, we were able to stop it quickly and no harm done. He has several dog friends that he plays with almost every day and there's never a problem. At least the owner in your case offered to be responsible for the bill, which I would imagine is a big one (based on my experiences with Penn's emergency clinic). Pits CAN be very nice, however, they were bred to fight dogs. Some of them will have a stronger instinct than others. Most of them should be watched more carefully than other dogs. My neighbor has a hunting dog that is constantly looking at squirrels and birds. It's just what she was bred for. I watched my dog herd a little kid who was running into the street as a car was coming -- no training and I didn't tell him to do it, but he was bred to herd. Anyway, glad to hear that he's having good walks again. I always carried pepper spray just in case. |

Sorry--but I don't mean to demonize the dogs but I do believe that Pit Bulls of questionable origins have to be viewed as higher risk than other dogs but I'm not really concerned about that at this point. Just concerned about my baby...
...Who had to go into the ER again this morning at 6am when he managed to get his bandages off his ear..had to get him there before he tore out his stitches. There until 9am when we got the news that there was no way Walden was going to resist fighting the bandage and he now has to wear the Elizabethan collar. He is SSOOOO mad about it. He was purposefully bashing his head into the wall and bearing down in the vets like he wasn't going anywhere until I removed it. Well, he's gotta deal. Now he's laying in his closet at home in my office and refusing to look at me, take food, anything. It's not the Pit Bull's fault--it's the owner's and let me tell you, I am getting more and more mad about it looking at my poor baby.
