2nd Thursday Openings, June 12th, 6 - 9 PM
We are continuing Shozo Tomioka: Images from the Noto Peninsula at our gallery which will be open during the 2nd Thursday Openings, June 12th from 6-9 pm. The show features 25 B&W silver prints from the 1950's depicting life in Wajiama, a fishing town along with the Japan Sea, and the surrounding area. Influenced by Ken Domon, a prominent Japanese photographer from the same period of time, Tomioka's images capture the harsh yet lively and joyful lives of fishermen and women in this area. We are also conducting an informational session for our destination trip to Japan that night. We will be providing more details of the trip to Kanazawa and the Noto Peninsula. If you are curious about the trip, please feel free to stop by the gallery. Informal Critique on June 15th, 5 PM The next informal critique is June 15th from 5-7 pm. This is an occasion to show your work to other photographers who are interested in sharing their work. Bring a body of work or simply a collection of images to talk about in front of like-minded people. Informal critiques are free of charge and open to public. Movie Night June 25th at 7 PM: "Paris, Texas" We are showing a movie on June 25th at 7 pm. This time, we are featuring “Paris, Texas” (1984) directed by Wim Wenders. One of Wim Wenders most well-know films, “Paris, Texas” is about a man who was presumed dead for four years and is now trying to re-establish his relationships. Wenders, who is also a photographer, captures the landscape of Texas with a moody and melancholy tone. Movie nights are free of charge and open to public.
