Very nice.

That's not at all what I pictured him looking like. This sounds interesting. I started a new garden 10 days ago and the seedlings are starting to pop up, so I must be doing something right so far. We'll see whether they last.

I was thinking the same thing. How did you picture him in your mind?

For some reason I expected him to have one of those ever-youthful looks, like he had black hair even if he was older. His voice sounds like he is in his 30s. Once I met a guy who was all into juicing everything he ate, and he claimed he was 50-something, even though he looked 15 years younger than that. I think that influenced the way I pictured Mike McGrath.

I completely agree. I imagined this happy little skinny dark-haired guy who was bouncing all over the room.

What is the best way to get there from the Berks stop on the El? There appears to be a field in between.

You could just take the Girard stop and walk-up Frankford. If you want to use the Berks stop, go up Front St, turn right on Norris and turn right again on Frankford. Be forwarned, the surrounding aren't the most welcoming.

Thanks so much. I've been through the area several times, but getting around the park threw me off. Maybe Girard would be better and I can jump on the 5 or 25 if they happen to pass by.

This was a fun and informative event. Mike is really great at what he does; I'm glad I went. I expected to see him put on a schtick and continuously try to sell things, as it was a free event, but he really is a nice guy with a great personality - who only mentioned his book once at the very end.

He just kept talking and throwing out information. I don't think there is a question that one could ask him, about gardening, that would throw him for a loop. I go to a lot of lectures and workshops, and I can honestly say that Mike really is a great orator. He talked to the 75 or so people as if he was talking to a single friend, never at a loss for words.

He certainly deserves a plug. And check out these answers to gardening questions:

The Garden Center has a lot of nice flowers and more. From what I know, their prices appear fair and they have a wide selection. The NKCDC has done a wonderful job with the place.

The only downside to the event, to me, was the adults and kids yelling in back of the workshop. Out of respect, that should have been contained a bit. Sure, it's an outdoor event, but the people were having a party while the workshop was taking place.

Regardless, thank you for a wonderful event.
