hey folks i thought i might share this with you...

JD McGillicuddy's is coming to Northren Liberties

They will takeing over the old Whisky Dix 421 N. 7th
McGillicuddys is a suburban based bar chain with locations in Upper Darby,Manayunk,Ardmore, Tinicum they are family owned and operated and have been in business since 1996.

A while back on the Manayunk section, I suggested that the name of the place was manufactured, but was told otherwise. Out of curiosity, whether you're Irish-American or not, in your entire life, how many people have you come across with the last name of Mcgilucuddy?

The name is authentic. The only place I know it from is McGillicuddy's Reeks along the Ring of Kerry

McGillicuddy is a real Irish Name, in fact, is is the real name of the Philadelphia A's legendary Connie Mack. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connie_Mack_(baseball)
This is probably a good location for a suburban chain, fake irish party shack. Close to the Electric Factory and far from me.

I never knew that area was considered NoLibs. Whew, when they mentioned Northern Liberties I was thinking b/w SG and Girard and Front to 5th.

Heh...I had a Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier growing up that was a purebred and his last name was McGillicuddy...he's the only Irishman I knew with that name but he was a fine dog indeed.

Like many neighborhoods, Nolibs is no longer just the boundaries.

Soon we'll be fighting a building development outside or area because it's to tall just like those guys in Society Hill.
