Angry HOTEL in fishtown? ! ?

ok what is going on? i received a flier in my door regarding a proposed 11-plus story HOTEL above the Beer city/Dunkin Donuts on Girard. There is a picture of the proposed design; absurd! How is there space for a hotel here? (and no, it says nothing about the open lot) Zoning meeting March 4 at the Rec.

The lot is huge, enough space for a hotel.

This sounds like bull though.

Default Nowhere near reality

There was a little flap over this recently. If you get the Fishtown Star, check the editorial page for a full explanation.

Basically, the Beer City people want to build a 17-story hotel there, but the FNA told them they are not ready to propose such a project to the community, as there are still many details that must be discussed. They didn't like that answer, so they distributed there own zoning flyers. That's the story I know, unless there was a new flyer distributed since. was the flyer put out last weekend?

Wawa will eventually buy that convenience store at Front and Girard. In like 10 years of course.

Default HOTEL- meeting March 3rd

this flier just arrived today. (the spelling was atrocious, not to be a be-otch). 17 story hotel atop a beer distributor and a D&D? are they renting rooms by the hour?

Um, there's a Wawa with gas at Aramingo and Cumberland. That's not even 1/4 mile. I don't think we need another Wawa, as nice as Wawas are. Frankly, I think this is another ploy on behalf of the owner of the Beer City to get zoning approved and put his property up for sale.

Hotels in Fishtown? C'mon. Someone read the Fishtown tourism article (or had it read to them) in the recent New York Times and got a little carried away.
