Default Pot

Hey Mule, as far as I know that place was completely gutted. I mean the even had to replace the joists in the floor. So I'm sad to say that the toilet probably didn't make it (although it's possible they took it up and are replacing it once they get to that point). Nothing like a big pot.

Yep, the building has sold. The new owners also have The Latest Dish/Fluid on 4th st. I think the new name is The Auto Bar. The plans are to open a restaurant/lounge and boutique. There is going to be outdoor seating but the roof deck was scrapped due to noise concerns for the immediate neighbors. The upper floors supposedly will be apartments as well.

The main focus is supposed to be on the food, not the bar. This does have neighbors concerned though. If the food doesn't work out this could be a way of sneaking a full blown bar into the spot.

At least that corner will have something other than the brotherhood addicts hanging out there.

I can't wait for the inevitable strip of great bars under the El and the inevitable BYOBs that will line Girard from Front to 4th after Bart builds his tower(s).

How sweet is that gonna be? We'll be in Nutter's second term, Obama on his way to term 2, the RE market recovering, city tax revenue shooting up. Now if I could just skip 4 years ahead....

By the way... I have dibs on that Mulhern's building across from The El Bar. That's gonna make a sweet restaurant some day.

Looks like they should be opening at any minute. I'm holding out hope that they realized the awesomeness of the gargantuan toilet and kept it. Only one way to find out...

If the building makes it that long. I've noticed more windows missing lately. I'd be willing to bet the roof is leaking. Real shame the owner won't let it go cheap.

Default Llc?

I believe if you go to any other of his establishments and look on the liquor license you'll read that his company name is Ku Fu Necktie and not the name of the bar. Check it out

You are speaking like a 20 yr. old.

Real smart to notify neighbors that the owners are planning after hour parties-it'll work out real good when the permit is under review.

I know Jim and Dave want to eventually get some solid punk bands in there and even hold after hour parties for larger bands. It's taking longer than expected to open because they ran into some issues with L & I and other legal hoops that they misunderstood. Thats the nature of the bar business in Philly (everyone wants their piece of the pie). So once its ready they're gonna have a great place to go besides these posh, velvet covered douche bag hang outs that everyone opens. The name is something you need to ask Jim about but it's his way of saying "**** you" to all the douche bag bar names everyone comes up with like "the dougout" or "Swanky Bubbles", "Blu Martini" and all those other lame names.

I'd imagine he meant there will be afterparties (not "after hours" parties) for shows at larger venues. I could be wrong though.

Here's what he wrote:

He may have mistyped it, but it sounds bad. In fact, his whole post does nothing positive for the owners. If they know him, they should tell him to shut up about their plans. When they are ready, they'll let people know.

Anyone have an opening date for this?

BTW....K F N is painted on the side of the building. Got to be the name of the bar.
