Hey everyone, I'm your friendly moderator again.
Before you post in this section, make sure it's related to Fishtown or "New Kensington" (whatever that is...lol). If it's not, I'll move it to where it goes. If you're searching for Fishtown information, another great source for news and discussion is www.fishtown.us. That said, as moderator here, I prefer the hands-off approach. If you post something I think other PBers will find unsuitable or violates normal bounds of decency, I'll private message you to change it. If it doesn't get changed, I have free reign to lock it or delete it...but I will do so sparingly. [Edit] One last thing: multiple posts (the same post in multiple sections of Phillyblog) will not be tolerated. Decide what section you want to put your post in and post it only once. Multiple posts get deleted. Thanks for reading! Post away!

Had a great time posting on Tuesday afternoon that was supposed to start in PhillyBlog's Fishtown forum (under "Where We Are") and continue to some other forums... but I never left! The conversation was great (Dave's humor was a perfect 10!), the topics were hype, and the moderator was and still is well-lit, flat, and has ample room to stick your butt out and make that impossible shot. Fishtown local and old school poster Larry99 has really breathed new life into the place. A roomier alternative to http://fishtown.us.

Incidentally, checking out www.fishtown.us is a must for anyone interested in the area.

Curious to know what exactly would be considered "New Kensigton"...? Looking to purchase a renovated property 2600 Cumberland St, I know it right across the street from the prison, er I meant school... But that area is looking up... thx... ![]() |

"New Kensington" is a term introduced to the area when the city was being divided up into economic development zones (I forget the proper name they have). In practice, not too many residents use that term to refer to the neighborhood & "New Kensington" could be said to include parts of 3 different neighborhoods.
New Kensington CDC (Community Development Corporation) serves the "New Kensington" zone. Thus, you should be able to tell what is "New Kensington" by going to nkcdc.org and seeing which area they serve.

actually, I should correct myself...
the "New Kensington" area designated by the city is the area covered by New Kensington NAC, which is closely related to NKCDC, but which has somewhat reduced boundaries.
