This would be a good story for the Northeast times to kick up some interest in it.

I remember that like it was yesterday. He went to get a copy book at the supermarket right there. I remember they said there was blood around his little body I was 8 or 9 at the time. Didn't they find him on the rail road tracks?

I think that is a great idea i knew the family and I was 12 when it happened my little brother use to play with him when the where kids ,there is aweb site that i saw a couple of years ago ,I can't really remember what the name of it was ,but i remember being in school and going to the funeral ,the whole school went,it's such a shame that there was never no justice for his family and actually his father was a philly police officer,My father was a cop to and it hit the neighborhood hard. From what i read they think teenagers that use to hang on the railroad did it but back then , there was a law that prevent the police from interviewing them, because they where minors.I think thay had acouple of suspects but nothing came of it .Eric was a little frecked faced boy that was very sweet and his death was tragic , I read that his mother goes to his grave every day still ,I wish they would give his family justice!!!!!!

maybe one day who ever did it and they have children ,will have such guilt that they would come forward and say something for the shunk family!!!!!

No, i believe they found him in a snow bank ,his uncle found him behind the cany cane factory in 3 feet of snow, from what i read his uncle heard the copy book flapping and that how they found him i dont think it was on the tracks. Not to sure though!!!!

Default The Unsolved

Bet there are so many unsolved murders and it would be a great thing to print old articles and postings from yesteryear and maybe someone may remember something from a case to solve something today in this time. The newspapers need to do some research and post old stories. People forget, and then they remember when they are reminded.

That show "Cold Case" did a show on this murder, and as they do they throw in other things so it's not "exactly" like the true crime.

The story they put out involved a priest and the parents. Not of course as the murderers, but some fake twist going on.

I'd have had no idea but my mom remembered this horrific crime like it was yesterday, and pointed it out to me. Then I looked some information up about it. I had no idea his dad was a police officer.

Mayfair Chick is absolutely right although I wonder how the family would feel about it being put back out there? Not any worse than having that TV show focusing on things that didn't happen. My sympathy and prayers for this family. I can't fathom how much pain that caused them.

I remeber this as well. I was a year older than Eric and also attended St. Hugh's. It was a big deal. I remember parents being very nervous after this. I thought about Eric a few years ago and googled his name. I was very surprised that there was nothing out there. This is an unsolved murder that needs attention. In this age of the internet the story should be out ther because there must be someone out there that knows something.
