Default Auto break-ins in Northern Liberties

My car stereo was stolen from my vehicle while parked on Wildey St near 2nd St. I've seen quite a few cars with broken windows in the area lately. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help the problem?

Three break-ins on Dunton and Wildey last week. On eof my neighbors caught two kids in the act, but they ran away too fast for her.

Angry

my car's "break-in" window got hit near 5th and Fairmount but nothing was taken. That was the second time in 6 months. My neighbor had his smashed 3 times in 10 days!

Over here it appears to be vandalism more than burglary.

My car's window was also smashed at about 5th and Fairmount. I had left a $150 side table in my trunk because I was waiting for my husband to carry it in. That was stolen. I usually don't leave anything in my car. I sure learned my lesson!

Seriously, I'd have a camera up, I mean--3 times in 10 days??? Or I'd be lying in wait with a taser or something. Sheesh.
(I'll bet any auto-glass places in the vicinity are doing gangbusters!)

Angry Crime of oppurtunity

Many people who get their autos broken into leave items on their seats, or if going shopping,or to a night club or bar, or just visiting a friend tend to park cars in areas that are not well lit or heavily traveled, or once at a location get out of their auto take off their outter garments, open their pocketbooks for everyone to see, take their wallet out to get their ID and some cash or Credit Card and toss the wallet on the seat, and paying too much attention to their surroundings such as broken glass on the street or sidewalk at your parking space or someone watching you or even may come up to you and ask you a question as you are getting out of the auto. Some of these people that break into cars are the homeless, gang members, juveniles , or just a crime of oppurtunity

You can make role call complaints to alert the police of the increase in activity

Taken from the Northern Liberties message board:
Get those role call complaints in asap folks. It gives the Police incentive to patrol extra in the areas where the cars are being smashed. 215 686 3260/1 for the 26th precinct.

Very true. I've found that keeping the inside of my car clean and putting a club on (which I never lock) does the trick so far...
