When I got to Frankford, I turned left to walk north. There were lots of people on the street, but I was allowed to walk through with no problem.
There were certainly some toothless, beaten-down people along the way. And though I'm slightly concerned at how well I seem to have blended in with that crowd, I'm glad they let me walk by in peace.

My experience is that people from Philly including people from Kensington are less hostile in general than those from NY and NJ. People from my block are always helping me carry air conditioners, sweeping my sidewalk and generally being decent. You must have seemed like you weren't going to hurt them.
