Local Tours Highlight Murals and Philadelphia-Made Products
October is Mural Arts Month. What better place to acquaint oneself with Philadelphia’s numerous examples than on our own streets. For the first time, as part of their fall series, the Mural Arts Program will offer not one but two tours exploring these works of public art within our neighborhoods’ boundaries.
On Sat. Oct. 16th, a trolley tour of Fishtown & Kensington will begin at Yards Brewery at 11a.m., including a tasting & refreshments. On Saturday October 23rd, a bicycle tour of North Philadelphia begins with breakfast at Rocket Cat Café at 9:30a.m. followed by a tour of Taller Puertorriqueno's galleries, and ending with lunch at Shining Star Restaurant. For more information or reservations for either tour, call 215-685-0754 or visit

Also debuting this season is The Neighborhood Tourism Network’s
Fishtown and Kensington: Traditions of Art and Industry tour, featuring Philadelphia-made products. Included is a tour and tasting at Yards Brewery, housed in one of the oldest remaining brewery buildings in Philadelphia. Participants will also visit a number of the Philadelphia artist studios housed above the Rocket Cat Café and Greensgrow Farms, a hydroponic farm and market on the site of a former brownfield. The bus departs at 10am on Saturday, October 30th from the Visitors Center, 6th and Market Sts. For information and reservations, call GPTMC at 215-599-2295 or email
