Of course, for many it's not "faux".
Also, many of us don't see the value in spending the money, because that area of life is not important to us. Much like I will probably never buy a new car, I will not spend the big money on clothing or on a lot of other items.

In fact, I'm in a slow "divestment" mode... planning to sell / give away much of the accumulation of my 40 years. Even if I have 28 years to retirement, when that day comes we plan to have only as much as can be easily held in our van and sailboat.

There's a St. Vincent De Paul on Frankford and Robbins. If you're real nice the people let you go through the stuff as they're unloading the trucks. My girlfriend did a whole retro living room when she caught a lucky break there. The cooloest thing she got were those lamps that look like cork from the 60's. If you're going for Victorian you'll have to fight my mom for the oversized Virgil statues, and water taffeta (sp) valances.

Marshall's up on Route 1 right before the Oxford Valley mall has great stuff, and the one in Franklin Mills has an awesome shoe department. Red tag Kenneth Cole pumps marked down to $12.00. They have a beautiful home decor section also. Need a faux antique British phone booth? That's your place.

Anyone remember Village Thrift? Now that was great. We had one where CVS is on Harbison. There was also one in NJ at the circle where the PUB was. They had it all.
BTW What is up with this look as if homeless? I'm old, and I just don't know what's up. That Mary Kate and Ashley are sporting it. Fake dirty hair, and all. Probably spent a fortune on hair products to get it to look that way.

There are still quite a few nearby. One on Kensington Ave about a half-mile above Lehigh. One on Lehigh, IIRC. One up Broad Street a bit.
