Default Frankford AVenue Fall Cleanup

This Saturday, September 25th, there will be a cleanup of Frankford Avenue from 9:30-noon. You can meet at the New Kensington CDC Garden Center at Frankford and Berks to get your equipment and trash bags. A cookout for all who participate will be held at Yards Brewery afterwards. Should be fun.

This sounds great! Is this a one time thing or something that happens every year or so?

Actually, it has been happening a few times per year. This is at least the second, and perhaps the third, this year. (Unfortunately, this one is once again scheduled for when I have a conflict.)

My conflict is sleeping! Actually, I'm going to try to drag my butt out of bed to do this. (I haven't remembered to do the Saturday recycling yet...but in due time...)

Yeah, I wish I was meeting.
Instead, I have a meeting in Eastwick (near the Airport) at 8:30 am.

This is our second year of doing the cleanup. we always have one in the spring and the fall with a cookout at yards afterwards. this past spring, we got about 60 residents to come out. the fall one is usually a little bit smaller, but still a good turnout. according to a guy who works at the City Commerce Dept., our neighborhood has one of the best participation rates for a cleanup in the entire city. it might have something to do with the added incentive of free Yards beer, maybe?

This sounds great but I, too, have a conflict this Sat. Keep posting these and maybe I'll make it for the next one.
