I Got off the EL at approx 2:30 today and waited about 30 minutes before i called SEPTA to only find out that one had broken down just off the North Philly Side of the Girard Bridge and that service was just restore. So here it is 3:05 and freezing and we still have to wait for the DAMN thing to come about 30-40 blocks....That same 15 didnt get to the EL until 3:40 and it was packed the driver told us that there was 3 more Trollies coming right behind him (Of course they are its not like they can go around you)....
I could handle this if it was a 1 time freak of occurance. But this happens atleast once a week...I'm as So sick of these things, and how much money did SEPTA spend to bring the Trollies back, well it was all a waste. If they want a route that they can use trollies on Put them back on the 23 or something....I almost want to move just because its to hard to go to/from Front 8 blocks east to Port Richmond....I can take the 54 at Somerset, but i hate waiting for that bus in the Heart of Kensington. |

Yes, a thousand times! I would love to have the trolleys on Rt 23 rather than those disgusting busses. Dirty, noisy, rough ride, stupidly designed (how many people have you seen almost fall trying to get to a seat?). I hate 'em.

Trolleys will ride smoother than busses since the City can never catch up with the number of streets that fall into disrepair.
It's just not possible to have 100% smooth roads all the time in Philadelphia. If you use hot mix asphalt here, then it will already be broken up after the first series of flash freezes. You have to use cold mix and do it slowly to get duration plus some semblance of smoothness. If we hot mixed our streets, the street would be level with the pavement after only 3 or 4 reapplications. Not a good idea [then it gets expensive having to scoop up the old layers of street]. Trolleys, if properly maintained on a street, can actually reduce street wear since their weight displacement transfers under the street surface and not directly on it.
