Thanks Brooke, I'm marking it down for next Friday morning. It better be good...LOL Do they have a counter, since I'll be flying solo?

Default Honey's

I've been to Honey's as late as 9:30am on a Saturday or Sunday and have not had to wait. Any time after that I've had to wait around 20-30 minutes (for 2 people). However, it is completely worth it. They do have a counter as well.

If there are just two of you, sometimes you can get seated pretty quickly even if there appears to be a long line. The last time my wife and I took my parents there, we had to wait a little while for a table for four, but there were several tables for two (and room at the counter) open even though the line of larger parties waiting for a table stretched outside.

I'd try to get there before 9:30AMish on the weekend to avoid the line. Usually we like to sleep late and will end up walking past Honey's to have brunch at N 3rd if it's after 11 and there's a long line for Honey's. They are open for dinner during the week now, but I've only been for breakfast.

(As a North Carolina boy, I will say their grits are pretty good.)

If you go during the week, you should be fine.

I once picked a friend up at the airport at around 6:50am and took her immediately to Honey's. I think it's the way to set the tone for a Philly vaca. She, just like everyone else, raved about the place and La Columbe coffee made the fact that we're both not morning people seem to vanish...

Honeys is good, but I think the Mercer is just as good (if not better), cheaper, and faster. The Hinge is good too, but I think the food is better at the Mercer and they have La Colombe as well.

I was at Mercer on Wednesday and seriously disappointed.

Hot chocolate had almost no chocolate in it.
French toast was undercooked.
My dining companion's home fries were undercooked.

I've been to Mercer several times before and loved it every time.
This time there were multiple problems.

Well there's GOTTA BE less of a wait for certain. Speed is sure a determining factor in my meals...I can wait up to 30 minutes and after that, it's time to try a new place and it's gotten that way with Honey's. Not their fault everyone loves them, I s'pose but time to try Mercer and Hinge.

Here's how I rate Honey's:
1. Food - Good
2. Service - Very Good
3. Price - Expensive
4. Atmosphere/Dining Rm - Very Poor
What's with those rickety old chairs and tables? And why is it always so frickin cold in there? Small glass of OJ, almost $3? I'd at least expect to not walk out of there with a sore Arse. I only go there when I don't feel like traveling far, which is less and less lately. If you got transpo, check out the Perkins in Mr. Laurel!

I agree that the food is good and the service very good, but I would not say it is expensive...it is actually comparable in price to south st diner (i love south st diner). And I don't like to pay big bucks for breakfast. Two people for breakfast was $23; at South st diner it's probably 20 or 21..so price is comparable. We ate outside for breakfast and it was great with the nice weather. Indoors was a bit dark but full of people. It was 10:30 and we were seated immediately. The employees were very friendly. I totally see the southern/jewish fusion reference to the food

$20 is waaaaay to expensive for breakfast for two. $13 tops! I'm sticking with The Acropolis!
