Default Lofts in Kensington?

I touched on this subject in my other thread, but wanted a more centralize debate in one thread. Anyways, my business associate and I found a whole bunch of abandon warehouses along allegheny and other parts of kensington. What if we could make lofts out of them. Will they sell?

I figure if we stay out of the heart of Kensington and focus on Allegheny where its easily accessible off of 95, we would be able to sell, no?

BTW ... allegheny ave off of 95, is that kensington or port richmond?

Well, it's being done down in Old Kensington... there's Triangle Theater at the confluence of Lawrence and Orkney and the Sponge Factory on 5th between Master and Thompton. There are also some lofts the name of which I forget somewhere around 5th and C.B. Moore and some more somwhere just barely NE of Temple campus (I think).

These are probably successful either because they're close to Northern Liberties, close to Temple or a combination of those two, though. I have my doubts about the viability of lofts on Allegheny in Kensington.

very risky but the location of kensington isn't inherently bad; in fact, it's kind of good. I've seen some nice buildings up there. is progress plaza in kensington?

You mean that little shopping center near Temple? No, that's in Yorktown. Kensington doesn't start until 5th st.

Yep, and also home to our beloved mayor, IIRC.

There're actually a bunch of fairly small neighborhoods in a row going north-south there. It's Hartranft between Lehigh and Susquehanna, Ludlow between Susquehanna and Montgomery, Yorktown down to Girard and Poplar below that. Yorktown and West Poplar (East Poplar being that brand new PHA stuff) have similar architecture but you can still tell the housing wasn't built at the same time.

Totally forgot that Allegheny in Kensington isn't far at all from the Temple Health Sciences campus, which has a shortage of good housing nearby. You might just be successful with the lofts idea if you market it to the HSC students.
