What is going on with that neon, 50s-ish-looking diner at 4th and Spring Garden? It looks like it is completely closed down. It can't be for lack of business. That place was always packed. Is this reopening anytime soon?

It wasn't but it is now closed.

That's a shame, I love low maintenance diners.
Silk City was great too, it actually had good food.

Silk City Diner was the name--it's being rehabbed by N. 3rd owner Mark Bee.

The food at Silk City was terrible. It was also a fire trap. And the bathrooms...good lord.

Silk City was the best! I used to go there for the early bird special and the bar was pretty cool too. There needs to be another sweet diner around here!

Honey's is about 1.5 blocks away from Silk City, but is way too crowded after 10 a.m. I never saw so many white people in one place around there as at Honey's.

What's hot? Reading the cool messages scrawled on the wall of Silk City's bathroom.
What's not? Realizing what was used to scrawl those messages was not a brown crayon.
