A successful meal at Taconnelli's has certain requirements. I haven't perfected it and as a vegan I admit that I never will. Perhaps others on the blog can help but these are my observations.
Call early and reserve your crusts.
Ask about toppings so you know what is available that day.
Arrive on time with a cooler full of beer. A lot of beer is key.
Remember this place is an original brick oven pizzaria, it may not be the best slice you ever had, but it is a bit of Port Richmond history.

Default Port Richmond Meetup

I'm trying to set-up a meeting & greet of sorts for PR residents on this sight...I was thinking next Thursday night, at a bar in the neighborhood. Any suggestions?

Default Port Richmond Book Store

The store is on Richmond Street- between Ann and Clearfield. I was there on Saturday and it's a great collection- although completely disorganized.

Default Polish Foods

This is right up my alley, Polish Foods of Port Richmond. Qualifications: Parents are from Poland and my import of a husband is Polish , plus I frequent these businesses and know most of the people there.

Little note, most Polish business will be closed always on Monday and close early on Sundays. Other than that, regular business hours, give or take an hour. (It's funny, Poland stopped that tradition of keeping businesses closed on Monday about 15 years ago, guess Port Richmond hasn't really caught up)

Pastry goods bar none - Julia's Bakery Cafe located on 2706 E Allegheny Ave. Great little place for having a great espresso and some of their sweets. They also have light tasty dinners I think on Thursdays and Fridays. (great items when the holidays roll around, but order early)

Best Coldcuts & Cheese - Super Deli located on 2625 E Allegheny Ave

Baked Goods (especially these little fresh rolls with various crunchy seeds and nuts) Polka Deli Tilton & Allegheny - small selection but good stuff.

Krakus Deli and Restaurant 3150 Richmond St -it's the largest store in Port Richmond, it's a hit or miss with their deli selection. By far the largest selection (made on the spot) kielbasa. They do have a little restaurant, the selection is pretty decent, but it just depends what cook they have there at that moment.

If you just want a decently priced and good tasting dinner at a moments notice stick with New Wave Cafe 2620 E. Allegheny Ave (the bar is kind of old school and the vibe is not that great), but the food is tasty and you can try a Polish beer on the spot.

You want to eat where the Polish people eat and where Polish people know the difference between good and so-so food. I personally don't like Syrenks'a, the food it heavy and very old school. Poles, actually have an incredible kitchen (which is fairly light) it's just that's there this notion, that all we eat is sauerkraut and kielbasa and borsch - which couldn't be further from the truth, unless the holidays roll around P.S. Get to these business before church let's out on Sunday, the smaller deli sell out their baked good really quickly. Hoped that helped and good luck in the Polish Hood

And don't forget Czerw's for Kielbasa. It just slays. Whenever I have a barbecue, I get a few pounds of it and people just melt. Don't transport it in your car though unless you want it to smell like smoked sausage for about a week. Actually, that doesn't sound too bad.

Try the Polish hotdogs and homemade pierogies while you're at it.

I was always told that it was health food. German food is awesome, also.
