The Baltic Bakery on Allegheny at I think Thompson has great donuts and mini pastries. I haven't tried anything else, but they had a lot of different cheesecakes and other dessert type baked goods.

Zur,

Do you remember what day and what time you were there?

No..

Just remember ditching 95 for the traffic....driving up Richmond behind the 15 Trolley..

gettin frustrated and pulling over...and getting some Kielbasa..

Again, not sure of the exact name but whatever is one block south of Allegheny...

and it was around 5:30-6ish last week.

(Does the place have a little sit and eat area on the left when you walk in?)

Default Port Richmond

I did some exploring this weekend in my new neighborhood. Julia's Bakery on Allegheny is great. I got a couple of rurkis (sp?) and a few other Polish desserts. All were wonderful! I finally made it to Krakus. I don't know the name of the cashier but she was super helpful and the pierogies and bread from there are very good. The New Wave Cafe was great! My father is Polish and fell in love with the food. The bartender/waitress there was also super helpful. I wanted to try Polish beer but had no idea which one to try. She recommended two and they were both enjoyable. The food was definitely a standout my Mother had the galumpki (sp?) and she said it was the best she has ever had.....I don't think my Polish grandmother would like that .... I had pierogies and kielbasa and both were very good.

I think I mentioned the Mercer St Cafe before but I will again. That place is great and my favorite so far. I've been there 4 times in the last month and was pleasently surprised everytime.

Cheers to the new neighborhood.

Next on the checklist is Syrenkas.

You people might never get rid of me.....

The Mercer is good, as is the Hinge.

Any interest in a meet-up for newish Port Richmond arrivals? There are certainly plenty of bars in the neighborhood.

Cool Port Richmond

I've only been to the Hinge once but you are right it was good too. I am anxious to try Syrenka's and Taconelli's. There seem to be a lot of bars in the area also but I haven't actually tried any yet so I would be up for a meet and great with fellow Port Richmonders.

Has anyone been to Kellys on Ann St or Micks on Clearfield? If so, what type of crowd hangs out there?

Holiday House is a gift shop on Clearfield. It's in a small house set back a little bit more so than the houses surrounding it, also has odd hours. Not too far from Cohox. The owner is nice.

Check out Tony's on Belgrade and Clementine for take-out. Syrenka's is highly recommended for Polish food. I've heard good things about the New Wave, though I was only there once a couple years ago and just for a beer at that. Mick's is good - it's been there a long time as have a lot of the regulars (which is what makes it good). Kelly's is a good spot too - still hard for me to believe it is where it is as the spot was inhabited by an old man bar for so long. For kielbasi - I prefer Swiacki's up on Tilton Street (I think).
